Though my hubby made mine, the County Extension office is offering a workshop
to make rain barrels.
Call them for details.

Phone: (850) 838-3508

I have two rain barrels already and both were overflowing after all the rain we received yesterday. Guess I need more.

I had the pleasure of speaking to Carolyn (a local Master Gardener) who provided the instruction for the rain barrel class, and also Clay at the Co. Extension office. Both said the class was well received and at least 20 or more people participated. That is good news.

She said pictures were taken during the class but she did not personally have them.
If someone out there has them, please send them to Clay's office so it can be included in the Extension Office/Master Gardener Newsletter.

Here are a couple pictures of my rain barrels below:

The key is to set them off of the ground to attain better water pressure.

Consider this if you plan to make a platform to set your barrels on...
A gallon of water weighs 8.34 pounds, therefore a full plastic 55-gallon barrel (like those in the pictures above), will weigh about 480 pounds.
